The end of the saga? More text messages from U Haul arrived on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each one demanded that I call the same 781 number about the "overdue" truck I rented from Lynnway. I made some more calls to the 781 number--still "just a formality." I called Action Towing, just out of curiosity. Yes the U Haul truck was still sitting on their lot, racking up $50 per storage charges. Finally, I think it was Thursday, I managed to get one of the U Haul people at the 781 number to write down the phone number for folks at Action Towing.

Hurray, that did the trick! It seems that I was able to play a critical (but of course unpaid) role in the U Haul corporate communications structure.

You know what's the worst thing about all this frustrating mess? The U Haul truck I rented didn't even have <a href = "http://betsydevine.com/blog/2006/09/21/the-craziness-inspired-by-four-big-big-cup-holders/" rel="nofollow">cup holders</a>!
